Chance the Rapper to Speak at People’s Inauguration Rally

Chance the Rapper hasn’t stopped his activism since the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. If anything, he’s increased it.

Before November 8th, Chance encouraged his fans to get out and vote by hosting a concert that led people to the polls, and now he’ll be speaking at the People’s Inauguration rally hosted by the Youth & College division of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in January.

According to the event’s website, the rally will discuss how members can focus on civil rights activism in 2017 and beyond. The mission’s hashtag is, fittingly, #StayWokeandFight. “We are faced with a moral and ethical crisis during this critical time in our nation’s history after the election of Donald J. Trump,” said Stephen Green, director of the NAACP Youth & College Division. “This moment calls for young leaders to gather together and develop a strategy to protect the human and civil rights of all Americans through nonviolent resistance.”

The rally will take place at Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January 21, 2017. It begins at 9am EST.
