Cubs Blow Out Indians, Force Game 7 #Jp

Shortstop Addison Russell had six RBIs–four of them coming on a grand slam home run in the third inning–to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 9-3 road victory over the Cleveland Indians in Game 6 of the World Series Tuesday night. (Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo also had four and three hits, respectively, scoring a combined five runs with a homer apiece.) While the outcome was never in doubt, Cubs manager Joe Maddon made the extremely curious decision to bring in closer Aroldis Chapman in the seventh inning with a five-run lead, something that could restrict his pitch count in the decisive seventh game, which will be played tonight in Cleveland. Regardless of who wins, a combined 176 years of World Series futility will come to an end, as the Cubs haven’t won since 1908, while the Indians haven’t claimed a title since 1948.
