President Obama Prefers Beyonce and Jay Z When He Works Out

By Amanda Wicks

Everybody needs motivation at the gym, and President Barack Obama is no different. He’s never been shy about sharing some of his favorite artists and songs with the public, and now with only a few months left of his presidency he’s revealing what he listens to while breaking a sweat.

In Wired‘s newest issue, Obama shared his workout playlist. He likes to get it started quite literally with The Black Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started.” From there it’s a mix between old and new with Beyoncé and Jay Z appearing next to Nina Simone and The Isley Brothers. He prefers Simone’s up-tempo “Sinnerman,” as well as Beyoncé’s “Get Me Bodied” and Jay Z and Drake’s “Off That.”

To cool things down, Obama ends with Courtney Barnett’s “Elevator Operator.” It’s not the first time he’s shown a preference for the Australian indie rocker. Barnett’s song also appeared on his 17-track summer playlist, as did Simone’s “Sinnerman.”
